How to Move Forward After a Breakup

Most of us have undoubtedly been through a breakup in one form or another, and we all know the pain and suffering involved. 

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Moving forward doesn’t mean that you have to settle or join a convent — there are other options. Believe me. 

It all begins with a simple, yet profound, realization: getting over a breakup is about loving yourself first.

I’m not a guru, and I’m not going to get mushy and saccharine like, but I am going to insist that you give this a try. 

This type of self-love I call “Big Wild Love” is all about non-judgement, compassion for others and one’s self.

Big Wild Love is knowing you’re on your path, knowing that what’s in the way is the way, knowing that this hurt isn’t an end all. Sometimes we need the hurt, the contrast, to show us what it is that we do actually want. 

I know this seems hard to believe — especially when you're deep in the breakup suffering and disbelief. During these times, I know life seems almost unbearable, but practicing certain steps of self love and self care will help guide you towards some sparks of happiness and confidence.
