10 Reasons to Let Go of Perfection

This one is for all the perfectionists out there. Besides the fact that perfection is utterly exhausting, it’s also boring and often keeps you stuck in a loop of self-loathing.

To find out how to release your need for perfection, watch the video below. Or scroll down to read a bit more about how to release a strong desire for perfection.

Finding Peace without perfection

If you think you need to be perfect to be loved, accepted, embraced, challenged, hired, proposed to, married, a parent, a great friend, healthy, wise, better than your nemesis, competitive… fill in the blanks.

As a reformed perfectionist myself, I’m here to give you 10 solid reasons why you need to let go of that struggle for perfection! If you watch the video, I go through the list one by one, and surely, a couple of them will resonate with you.

Fully Enjoying the Moment

Basically, if you’re always seeking perfection, you can really never fully enjoy the moment because you’re always trying to make that moment perfect, instead of simply sitting in it and enjoying it! By discovering the blissful contentment with what is, you’ll embrace the here and now and stop trying to make things happen.

It’s almost like shooting yourself in the foot — you have a 100% failure rate because you’re constantly trying to change the outcome of what is. Which is impossible! You’re stuck focusing on the goal instead of the ongoing journey.

Loving yourself and everyone else so much more

Forgoing perfection also allows you to appreciate other people more as well. Because you don’t expect them to be “perfect” either. You might even find that you have a wealth of empathy and forgiveness hidden in the depths of your black hole of perfection.

Without your standards set at perfection, you’re freer to enjoy what comes!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on what might happen if you let go of perfection. Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
