Making a Life Plan that Works
The most "efficient" way to head out in the world of dating is by having a clear life plan. I'm not talking about a full plan for the entirety of the rest of your life; just some kind of timeline that helps you take action and make a head start in the right direction.
Knowing what you want in life and what direction you’re heading in helps you choose a partner who isn’t just along for the ride, but who will also support you along that journey.
Not only that, having a plan for your life will help move you along and give you that motivation you need to reach your goals - and as a journalist myself, I mean it when I say that nothing gets done around here without a deadline.
So how do you create a life plan that matches your goals AND actually works? Creating a life plan isn’t just about a timeline, it’s also about knowing what you want, writing your goals down, along with how you’ll achieve them.
That means you need to know the answer to the question: What do I want?
If you’re not sure, I’ve got something for you there as well. Watch the video below or scroll down for my four-step process.
Step One: Claim What You Really Want
Stop being afraid to boldly decide on what you want. Stop letting yourself talk yourself out of your dreams by telling yourself that you aren’t good enough or don’t believe what you want is possible. Say it out loud a million times, write it down, do whatever you need to do until you believe in that plan.
Step Two: Tell Someone
Choose someone you trust to confide your goals and plans in. Someone you know who will be your champion, who will support you every step of the way, and will help keep you accountable when you stop moving forward.
Step Three: Write It Down
Write it down. Keep a journal and track your progress. Leave yourself notes. Set reminders on your phone. Set it as the background on your computer.Surround yourself with those written words so that you are reminded every second.
Step Four: Commit
This might be the hardest step, but this is the one that is going to help you get it done. COMMIT. Do the work. Be honest with yourself. Have patience and flexibility. Don’t waver or settle. Stay focused!
Essentially, in doing all of these things, you’re training your brain to go get what you want. And I promise you, if you stay the course, it will work.
